Differentiated Piston Filling MechanismPelikan | Classic Range | Differentiated Piston Filling Mechanism .All fountain pens in the Souveran range come with Pelikan's trademark differentiated piston filling mechanism which sees most of the pen barrel as the ink resevior. You simply dip the nib of the pen into a bottle of ink and turn the filler knob at the other end of the pen and ink will be drawn up into the pen's barrell. Ink cartridges can not be used in the Souveran range of fountain pens, but we have a very large selection of inks from Pelikan and Noodler's which can be used in these pens.
The filler knowbwhich is on the right of the below picture is turned and is differentiated so for approximately a 1mm movement of the knob will move the internal piston by 10mm. This allows for the pen to hold a large amount of ink, even in small pens.
The picture of the M800 Demonstrator below shows the internal parts of the piston mechanism.
A video will follow soon showing the piston mechanism in use.
